Without money to pay for a house, without energies to build a shack, without a place to go. Schools are the last possible shelter for Syrian refugees. Even here they often have to pay, but the rent is much lower. Every classroom becomes a temporary accommodation for one or more families and the central courtyard is transformed into a meeting place.

We propose here a gallery of photos from two Lebanese schools that have been converted into a shelter for refugees. Common spaces used in strange ways. Normal lives overwhelmed by exceptional events. And a veil of melancholy spreads over everything…
